'24 - '25 Mt. Zion Primary School's Points of Pride

Hear Our Voices (HOV) is our district literary competition that requires students to create original works of literature in the genres of narrative, poetry, essay, multimedia, spoken word, or speech. K-12 scholars had the opportunity to showcase their writing skills with this initiative.

As writing is an important initiative of the county, it was exciting to have submissions for this competition.  Our Primary scholars put forth their best efforts and showcased their writing skills and were awarded 2 places!  We are proud to say that we were winners in the Dictated Narrative and the Narrative portions of the competition!  Through HOV, our students were able to strengthen literacy skills and will be able to utilize them beyond the academic setting.

The world language competitors worked really hard to do well in the competition. Kindergarten, first grade and second grade practiced and worked hard in school and at home and have shown their understanding and knowledge in Spanish by coming in first and second places in the county competition.

The G.E.N.T.S and Charming Chrysalis mentoring programs at MZP Primary School have made a profound impact on the students involved, fostering leadership, respect, and self-esteem among young boys and girls. Charming Chrysalis is also recognized for fostering a safe, affirming space that uplifts all 2nd-grade MZP girls, especially those who may feel unseen or underserved. It celebrates diversity and encourages girls to honor their backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences while cultivating leadership and positive peer relationships.

The Charming Chrysalis and G.E.N.T.S organizations have become a transformative presence within our school community, promoting social-emotional growth, creativity, and inclusivity. Designed as a safe, nurturing space for the girls of MZP to explore identity, emotions, and personal development, the program empowers learners to blossom into confident, compassionate individuals.

Mt. Zion Primary School’s food pantry initiative was created to provide consistent food assistance to families in need within the local community. It offers a welcoming and accessible resource for those facing food insecurity. This initiative demonstrates the school’s dedication to caring for students beyond the classroom.

The food pantry has helped ensure that students come to school nourished and ready to learn, positively affecting their focus and participation. It has also built a sense of community support and compassion within the school. Staff and students alike are increasingly engaged in service and social awareness through this effort.
